Rocket against the palace of the prefecture of Ajaccio
AJACCIO (Corsica) – A rocket was launched against a local of the prefecture of Ajaccio, in Corsica, but there were no victims. This was announced by a senior police officer. The office of a switchboard operator, present at the time of the attack, was damaged and the windows of at least one floor of the prefecture and the general council were shattered.
Investigators found a rocket launcher nearby. It is unknown whether the gesture is linked to the union dispute of the Sncm ferry company, which blocks the port of Marseille, like those in Ajaccio and Bastia.
In the afternoon, thirty nationalist and trade unionist militants raided the headquarters of the Assembly of Corsica, where a motion was discussed over the abandonment of the judicial proceedings against the sailors who hijacked a ferry, the ‘Pascal Paoli’, to protest against the privatization project of the Société nationale Corse-Mediterranee.
