Hackers violate Sarkozy’s account
“They took small sums”
PARIS – “Online” fraud for Nicolas Sarkozy. Some telematic thieves have managed to obtain the French president’s bank details and have taken “small sums” from his personal account.
It was the “Journal du Dimanche” who reported the complaint filed by Sarkozy in September “with the utmost discretion”. The news was confirmed by the Elysée.
The investigation was entrusted to the team against financial crimes and to the prosecutor of the Paris suburb of Nanterre, Philippe Courroye.
From the first investigations it was not possible to trace the authors, which suggests that they are professionals. In this type of scams, thieves usually withdraw sums of less than 200 euros at a time in the hope that the account holder will notice the fraud as late as possible.
