The seizure was announced by the Arab television channel Al Jazeera. The ship seized by Somali pirates is a Danish cargo ship operating for an American group and was hijacked today while sailing in Somali waters. According to reports from the Arab site of economic information Aleqt.com, the ship has a tonnage of 17 thousand tons and was seized about 400 nautical miles from Mogadishu. This is the sixth ship seized off the coast of Somalia since last Saturday.

US defense sources quoted by other American media indicate that the story could be at a turning point and that the crew would regain control of the “Maersk Alabama”.
