Rosa Luxemburg’s body discovered in a morgue in Berlin
BERLIN – Rosa Luxemburg’s body was discovered in the morgue of the Charité hospital in Berlin. This is revealed by Der Spiegel who cites the head of the forensic medicine department, Michael Tsokos. A number of elements suggest that it is precisely the remains of the founder of the German Communist Party murdered between 15 and 16 January 1919 while she was transferred to prison. The corpse was thrown into a canal, from which the remains identified as those of Luxemburg were subsequently recovered and to which a burial was given. The doctor explained that the body – devoid of head, hands and feet – is of a drowned woman who has very strong similarities with the pasionaria of Marxism, who suffered from the birth of a malformation of the femur that made her slightly limping.
