Lorenzo dominates without effort
Without Valentino Rossi it is not the same thing: it is not a question of being a fan or not because at the Gp of Silverstone the race ended on the first lap. That is when Lorenzo took the lead, staying there for the whole race, also thanks to the worst start of Stoner’s career that at the first corner he found himself twelfth. Indeed, it was Stoner who was the only driver to turn in the times.
The race therefore took place only for the second position and the conquest of the podium, with an incandescent final thanks to the comeback of Stoner who at two laps from the checkered flag overtook DePuniet conquering the fifth position. The battle between Dovizioso (second) Hayden (third), Spies (fourth) and Stoner in short made us forget for a moment the boredom of the race, already decided as we said after the start.
Eventually Dovizioso retained second place, while Superbike world champion Ben Spies took his first podium of the season, passing poor Hayden (who still came ahead of his team-mate anyway) right on the last lap. Then they placed Randy de Puniet, Marco Simoncelli and Daniel Pedrosa, eighth, fresh from the success of two weeks ago at the Italian Grand Prix, but protagonist yesterday in qualifying of a very bad fall and now visibly weakened.
In short, Lorenzo’s superiority was clear and Dovizioso also admitted: “I must be happy for this race – explained the Honda rider – because the second place was really the best: Lorenzo was too fast, it was impossible to go and get it. a clearly superior step “.
In short, waiting for Rossi’s return, the only hopes for seeing a bit livelier races are linked to Stoner’s mood. And already because analyzing the race today at the end it is not clear why the Australian has slept so much before waking up, setting record times and going to the podium …
In the meantime the world championship seems already closed, since Rossi he’ll be back in 4 months: Lorenzo is always clearly ahead of the world with 115 points, +37 on Dovizioso and +42 on Pedrosa.
