Tourist walks in Versailles
and finds the corpse of a man
PARIS – A walk in one of the most famous places in Europe has turned into a bad adventure for a tourist, who has found the lifeless body of a man, repeatedly hit by a cold weapon. Theater of Murder, the Palace of Versailles, historic home of Louis XIV, about seventeen kilometers from Paris, visited every year by thousands of visitors. Questioned by the police a man found in the area holding a knife.
It was one of these who made the gruesome discovery late yesterday afternoon. The man’s corpse lays on one of the avenues flanking a large basin of water in the park, not far from the palace. The victim was a 52-year-old air force soldier, according to the French newspaper Le Parisien. From the autopsy it emerged that the man received four stab wounds in the chest, “very deep, inflicted with the precise intention of killing”, the health officials report.
The police stopped a man, a twenty-year-old, found in Versailles holding a knife. The man was questioned by the investigators, pending the results of the analysis arranged on the weapon.
