Tabloidgate, the former Cameron spokesman re-arrested in prison

LONDON – Andy Coulson, former spokesman for British Prime Minister David Cameron, was arrested in London by Scottish police from Strathclyde, under suspicion of perjury. He was transferred to Glasgow. The accusation is that of having witnessed the forgery during the trial of the Scottish socialist exponent Tommy Sheridan linked to the Tabloidgate, the scandal of illegal wiretapping by journalists of the Murdoch group. The announcement was made by the Crown Office of Scotland in Glasgow. The Scottish legal system, unlike the English one, allows the detention of a suspect until interrogation. Coulson’s lawyer, Jo Rickards, declined to issue statements.

Coulson, 44, a journalist by trade, a conservative like Cameron, declared two years, when he was already working for 10 Downing Street, that he had not heard of any illegal activity by his subordinates at the time he was managing Sunday News of the World , belonging to ‘News Corporation’, the media giant of Rupert Murdoch.
