World Cup 2018, in Russia 11 cities: in Moscow the final
MOSCOW – Eleven cities and 12 stadiums for the 2018 World Cup. Russia and FIFA have officially announced the cities chosen as venues for the World Cup matches scheduled in six years. In the front row are Moscow, with two stadiums, and St. Petersburg. Russia 2018 matches will be played in Moscow (in Luzhniki and Spartak stadiums), St. Petersburg, in Soci, a city that will host the Winter Olympics in 2014, and then in Kazan, Samara, Niznij-Novgorod, Ekaterinburg, Rostov, Volgograd, Kaliningrad and Saransk. Iaroslav and Krasnodar were therefore excluded from the initial list of 13 cities.
“I am convinced that it will be a great success: you have the support not only of us but also of the President, the Government and the Parliament”, said FIFA President Joseph Blatter during a ceremony held in the studios of Russian public television, to also took part in the national coach Fabio Capello, the sports minister Vitali Moutko and the 2002 world champion Roberto Carlos, who until just a few months ago played in the Russian championship, in the Anzhi Makhachkala.
In St. Petersburg and Moscow, the two semi-finals will be played, while the final will be hosted by the Moscow Loujniki stadium, which has a capacity of 90 thousand spectators. In two years, in 2014, the World Cup will take place in Brazil.
