BEIRUT – Dozens of people were killed and injured in the collapse of some buildings in two different locations in northern Syria struck by government air raids. This was reported by the residents of Maarrat Misrin and Binnis, in solidarity with the anti-regime popular uprising and organized in coordination committees.
According to initial information reported by the sources, repeated air raids have struck civilian homes in the two towns around Maarrat an Numaan, a town along the Damascus-Aleppo highway which has been under rebel control for a month but has been hit by aviation daily. “There are dozens of victims under the rubble,” Maarrat Misrin’s committees say, according to which the residents are now engaged in trying to recover the bodies from the rubble. An unprecedented “deluge of bombs” that is breaking down in these hours on Aleppo also talking about numerous residents on social networks, as the BBC explains on its site.
Meanwhile, the rebels launched an offensive against the Taftanaz air base in the north of the country, after conquering the strategic height of Saraqeb. From the Taftanaz airbase, helicopters and jets start pounding rebel positions on the northern front, as the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights recalled. Near the airport, which is located in Idlib province, “furious battles” are reported. In the last hours the Syrian rebels have already conquered three military positions in Douma, a north-eastern suburb of Damascus, and an Air Force station in the same province of Idlib.
Meanwhile, another film of atrocities has begun to circulate on the internet while the indignation for the massacre committed (apparently) by the rebels and documented yesterday by a video circulated on the nethas not yet subsided . This time the perpetrators of the violence would be Syrian soldiers wearing government army uniforms who mutilate the bodies of newly killed rebels, cutting their ears with knives and showing them to a video amateur’s camera. The undated video was released this morning on social networks. Its authenticity is not verifiable.
