USA, Obama asks the Supreme Court to abolish the law that prohibits gay marriage

WASHINGTON – The administration of US President Barack Obama formally asked the Supreme Court to repeal a federal law of the 1990s that defines marriage as the union between a man and a woman. The text in fact, writes the White House in the request, “violates the fundamental guarantee of equality before the law and prevents” thousands of homosexual couples, legally married in their states, from enjoying the same federal advantages as heterosexual couples “.
