Germany, depression makes another victim: Biermann suicide

BERLIN – The world of German football is in shock due to the death of former St. Pauli and Union Berlin player, Andreas Biermann. The defender took his life at the age of 33, following a long history of depression. Biermann, found dead Friday night, had admitted his problems in several interviews and was being treated for a cure. “We are deeply shocked,” Spandau Kickers, where the defender was a militant, told DPA Guenter Hagedorn, managing director of the amateur club.
