Shipwrecks, network of survivors to find the bodies of family members. Now there is a name on the graves of Mohamed and Marah

They have lost children, mothers, fathers, grandchildren but they never despair of finding at least their  or buried unnamed who knows where. And with the tam tam of survivors spreading from Germany, to Denmark, to Sweden, other “miracles” occur at least in finding the bodies of their children or their relatives. In the past few weeks through photos released by the “Chi l’ha visto” broadcast by a Syrian family that had lost their son in a shipwreck in February 2014, it was possible to identify his body, Mohamed, aged 10 , which had been buried in the cemetery of Ribera in the province of Agrigento.

During that dramatic inspection, Mohamed’s parents were shown other documents, photos and objects from other bodies recovered and buried in the Agrigento cemetery. Back in Germany, Mohamed’s parents released the photos and objects they had seen in Agrigento among their compatriots who were still looking for their children drowned during the crossing. So in recent days another corpse, that of Marah, a 19-year-old girl, was recognized by her uncle Asaed Bashir, who from Denmark went to Agrigento where he found the corpse of his niece who had left with him and his family in February of 2014 and that ended up at the bottom of the sea after the boat had capsized.

Now Marah’s parents, who are in Syria, contacted by the Italian police, asked to be able to reach Agrigento to pray at the grave of their daughter. Marah’s uncle now hopes to find the body of his daughter Enas and has given the Agrigento police his pictures taken just before departure with the trafficker barge, in one of which he is portrayed wearing a life jacket.

Tomorrow the recovery of the fishing boat that sank on April 18, 2015 in the Sicily Channel will start again, on which it is estimated there were about 700 people. The operations were interrupted due to unfavorable weather and sea conditions. The wreck is located around 85 miles from the Libyan coast and at a depth of about 370 meters.
