US: hackers attack Equifax, at risk data 143 million people
NEW YORK – A hacker attack that put at risk the personal data of over 143 million American, British and Canadian citizens. Equifax has admitted, one of the largest credit control agencies founded in Atlanta (United States), which at the end of July discovered an intrusion into its database, which began in May and lasted until mid-July. However, the company reassured its customers, hackers would not be able to access the most sensitive information.
It would be one of the most impressive hackers in history. Almost half of the American citizens involved. By exploiting a weak point in the computer security system, hackers were able to steal millions of data. According to Equifax, names, personal codes, addresses, even license numbers were viewed. Yesterday, the president of Equifax had to admit the cyber-attack: “It is a blow that strikes at the heart of our company,” said Richard Smith, “we apologize to our customers and to all consumers involved”.
