Switzerland, no to legal cannabis yes to state heroin

GENEVA – The Swiss rejected a popular initiative calling for the decriminalization of cannabis use with a referendum.

In fact, the majority of the cantons rejected the project that needed the double majority of the 26 cantons and the population (4.9 million voters) to be approved.

Instead, the law providing for the expansion of an existing federal program that provides for the controlled distribution of heroin to the most serious drug addicts was approved by a large majority.

The Swiss also said no with 58.6% flexible early retirement without a reduction in the pension. A referendum measure was also approved to make the offenses related to child pornography imprescriptible. The text proposed by the Marche Blanche association led by Christine Busset passed in the majority of the cantons, 17 out of 26, and obtained the majority of the popular vote, 51, 9 percent, of the votes.
