Projections: “Ppv is the third force”
BRUSSELS – Geert Wilders’ xenophobic and anti-Islam Party for Freedom (Pvv) is the big winner of the Dutch local elections, despite having only appeared in the Hague and Almere municipalities, and would go from being the fifth to the third party in Holland on a national basis. This is what emerges from the projections on the number of seats in Parliament, shown by Nos TV. Voting will be held for the renewal of the House next June 9th.
According to the graphs shown by the broadcaster, the Christian Democratic party (Cda), though much downsized, would remain the first Dutch party followed by the Labor party, also falling. The Pvv would increase its presence by fifteen seats in Parliament, going from 9 to 24 seats. Good is also the result of the progressive formation D66,
Voter turnout, which closed at 9pm, was 56%.
