US veto to the anti-Israel resolution Palestinians: “Review the negotiations”
NEW YORK – The United States has vetoed a UN resolution condemning Israel for continuing to build settlements in East Jerusalem and the Palestinian territories. A “wretched decision”, according to the first harsh reaction of the Palestinian National Authority, “which affects the credibility of the American administration”.
Immediately after the veto, the PA declared that it wanted to “review the negotiation process” with the Jewish state. The general secretary of the Executive Committee of the PLO, Yasser Abed Rabbo, said that the PA will review its assessments “on the entire Israeli-Palestinian negotiation process. Israel, on the other hand, has launched an appeal to resume direct negotiations with the Palestinians. “The road is short between Ramallah and Jerusalem and all that the Palestinians have to do is to return to the negotiating table without preconditions,” Israeli foreign ministry spokesman Yigal Palmor said in a statement. “It will only be this way, and not by conquering the Security Council, that it will be possible to advance the peace process for the benefit of both parties and serve the cause of peace and security throughout the region “, the note adds.
The condemnation document against Israel, prepared by a group of Arab countries, received green light from the delegates of the other 14 countries sitting on the UN Security Council.
