Shooting in Pittsburgh, near a high school, three students injured

PITTSBURGH – Three people were hit by gunfire in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, near a high school, Brashear High School.

Ebony Pugh, the school’s spokesman, said that three students were hit by bullets as they walked to reach the car with which they had arrived at school in the morning. Two would be shot in the head and the third in the arm and leg. Their lives would not be at risk. The shots were made on the land belonging to the school, but not far away. It is not clear who started them.

One of the three students was found inside the school, the spokeswoman said, explaining however that he was not hit in the school but that he was there either because he ran there after the shooting or because the rescuers could have brought him in.

The Brashear school, which has since been closed, is located about three kilometers from downtown Pittsburgh. Once again, therefore, a shooting involves a high school in America.
Within a couple of hours, SWAT agents, US police special forces, surrounded a house not far from the shooting site and arrested at least three people. Then it was announced that a fourth one was also stopped, and then two more. A police spokeswoman, Dianne Richard, said that the people arrested are not “suspect”, but that at the moment no one was indicted. Police sources quoted by a local newspaper, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, that the three victims knew the person or people who opened fire and that today’s shooting could be connected with a fight broke out in the school just under a month ago and probably due to a violent dispute over drug issues.
