Los Angeles, they planned massacres in college, arrested two students

LOS ANGELES – It could have been a terrible massacre. But this time the police arrived earlier and managed to stop two young men planning a massacre in a college in Los Angeles.

It appears that the two wanted to kill three college employees and as many students as possible with firearms. The boys had not yet come into possession of weapons, but were trying to get them. They had been under surveillance since last week, when the school district had informed the police of their plans.

“It is the first time that school officials have reported suspicious behavior. Thanks to this information we have avoided a horrible tragedy,” said Sergeant Brian Solinsky, a police officer from South Pasadena, a northeast Los Angeles neighborhood.

Police found clear evidence that the boys were looking for rifles, machine guns, bombs and other explosives, especially propane, a flammable gas. One of the boys tried to escape at the time of the arrest but was blocked by the agents.

South Pasadena High School, eight miles northeast of Los Angeles, has a community of 25,000 students. The arrest comes the day after the arrest in Los Angeles county of a boy who had expressed an online intention to shoot at the local school, even though the sheriff admitted that it was not a serious threat.

A few days after the reopening of the school, scheduled for Thursday, the violence alarm returns in American educational institutions. Unfortunately in the United States such episodes are not at all infrequent: the last one last June in Portland , on the west coast, when a student killed his colleague and then committed suicide.
