Ukraine, championship suspended indefinitely

KIEV – Stop the soccer championship in Ukraine. Next Friday, after the long winter break, the second round should have started, but the Premier League, due to the frantic political situation, will not start again. The decision was taken by the League of clubs that received a letter about the Kiev Football Association following an appeal from the Ministry of the Interior. At the moment no date has been indicated for the resumption of the competition.

The first part of the championship ended with Donetsk’s Shakhtar leading with 38 points, followed by Metalist Kharkiv and Dinamo Kiev with 33. Last week, due to the serious riots in Kiev, the first match of the 16th of Europe League between Dinamo Kiev and Valencia had been disputed in Nicosia. And the Cypriot capital will also be home next Wednesday, March 5, of the friendly match between the Ukrainian national team and the United States. Instead, the return match of the Europa League between Shakhtar and the Czechs of Plzen will be played regularly in Donetsk tomorrow, as was the Dnipropetrovsk contest between Dnipro and Tottenham.
