L’Aquila in the square, 10 years after the earthquake, the pain has not been canceled
L’AQUILA – Ten years as a day: the time spent since the night of April 6, 2009 was not enough to erase the pain from the hearts of the family members of the 309 victims, who died under the rubble caused by the earthquake. Today as then, the city has wrapped itself in an immense embrace and, together, has remembered its dead with a silent and emotional torchlight procession. Thousands of people from L’Aquila who met in via XX Settembre, certainly many more than they had been in previous years, as many more journalists returned to the Abruzzo capital after the spotlights had turned off as they passed the years since the tragedy.
